When you register on b4Exams, we collect your name, email address, password (hashed), role (student or teacher), profile photo, and any other information you voluntarily provide, such as a biography, exam specializations, or teaching experience.

1.2 Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with our platform, including pages visited, search queries, lesson bookings, session durations, device type, browser type, IP address, and timestamps.

1.3 Payment Data

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. b4Exams does not store your full card number, CVC, or bank account details. We only store a Stripe customer ID and payment metadata (amount, currency, status).

1.4 Communication Data

Messages exchanged between students and teachers on our platform are stored to facilitate lesson coordination and to resolve disputes. We do not read your messages unless required for support or safety purposes.

We use the information we collect to: provide and improve the b4Exams platform; match students with suitable teachers; process payments and payouts; send transactional emails (booking confirmations, lesson reminders, receipts); send optional marketing emails (with your consent); detect and prevent fraud; comply with legal obligations; and personalize your experience on the platform.

3.1 With Teachers and Students

When you book a lesson, your name and profile information are shared with the relevant teacher or student to facilitate the lesson.

3.2 Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the platform: Stripe (payments), Google (authentication, analytics), Jitsi (video lessons), and cloud infrastructure providers. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

3.4 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as language selection), analyze platform usage, and serve relevant content. You can control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling cookies may affect your ability to use certain features of the platform.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will remove or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records which are retained for 7 years).

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords (bcrypt), JWT-based authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your credentials confidential.

b4Exams is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly. Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. When we transfer data internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, to protect your data in accordance with applicable law.
